Autobiographical Game

Design Process

I am making an autobiographical game featuring my cat Joker as the protagonist. She is a four-year-old black cat surrendered by her previous owner at a shelter in Oakland, California. I adopted her last February. I wish to use this game to re-create Joker’s experience at the shelter focusing especially on the emotional aspect. She was all skin and bones when I first met her, because in the one month she had spent in the shelter, she had been too stressed out and depressed to eat properly. She also wasn’t adopted that easily because she was already 3 years old while at the same time being a black cat. I want my users to have the first-perspective of Joker when she was rejected. After playing this game, I hope my users would have a bit more empathy towards shelter animals, especially animals that are a bit older and black cats. Here is the code to my sketch

Reflection

This game was fun to make and not too difficult with the help of tutorials. Making this game was a good way for me to learn and become familiar with class, objects, switch statements, etc. One thing that I wish I would have done differently was to push myself and be more creative with these skills, creating an interaction that is different from the ones in the tutorials.
